Kefalonia Tour Guide - Part 2

We travel by car through Kefalonia Island from Argostoli to Fiscardo in Kefalonia Tour Guide Part 1 whereas in Part 2 we travel back from Fiscardo to Argostoli by the east coast of the island land.

We still drive a car we rent at the starting point on Kefalonia Airport. Our second trip starts from Fiscardo where we spent some beautiful days in town and near beaches. Fiscardo is relative expensive and the rooms has much higher price then in the other towns in Kefalonia.

Then we drive to the most beautiful small town in island Sami. We drive direct from Fiscardo to Sami through north peninsula of Kefalonia. Sami is a very charming town with a long waterfront with restaurants and tavernas serving the locally caught fish of the day. Here you must visit Antisamos Beach about 10 min away by car. For history buff’s, we suggest the Ancient Sami archaeological sights and the Roman baths in Sami.

From Sami we travel along coast and we stop in very nice Poros Village which is a quiet town and very popular with the yachting flotillas that appear religously throughout the summer months. There are many nice hotels just on the long beach appropriate also for children.

We continue to the Skala on the south of island. It's good to know that we could drive by car from Fiscardo to Skala in just few hours if we didn't stop anywhere. Kefalonia is midsize island but it's good to travel with car. Skala is a coastal village which lies on the south-eastern tip of Kefalonia at 37 kilometres from the island's capital and 12 kilometres from Poros.

This village was rebuilt after the earthquake of 1953 when the older village was completely destroyed. Being the largest resort of the southern part of Kefalonia, Skala welcomes thousands of visitors every summer, who come to enjoy the large sandy beach of the village.

In this tour we travel from Fiscardo to Skala by the east coast. Next in Part 3 we will visit some not so good known but very interesting villages where we can spent our holidays.
